1.49.13pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 23rd Apr 2008
Dunfermline and West Fife MP Willie Rennie was inducted as a member of the Dunfermline and District Lions Club last week and is encouraging others to get in contact with the Lions if they wish to join. The role of the Lions clubs is to serve the local community on projects which boost the community spirit, for example in 2006 the Dunfermline Lions supported the Women's Aid project which saw women in difficult circumstances helped to find housing solutions.
After the ceremony, Willie Rennie said:
"I am delighted to have been invited to join the Dunfermline and District Lions Club. I know the Lions have worked on some extremely worthy causes and have helped a lot of people.
"I am always impressed by the Lions' dedication to helping out people less fortunate in the community, and I would urge like-minded people to get in touch with them if they would like to serve people in the same way."
If you would like to become involved the some of the Lions' project work, they can be contacted via email on president@dunfermlinelions.org.uk.
