Willie Rennie, elected just 4 months ago, has now been appointed to the prestigious Defence Select Committee.
Speaking after the first meeting of the Committee, Mr Rennie said:
"It's a real honour to be appointed to the Defence Select Committee.
"With our troops facing life-and-death threats in Afghanistan and Iraq there has never been a more important time for this Committee. I will be working with colleagues on the Committee to make sure that the Government is held to account on this issue and many others.
"I am also conscious of how important defence jobs are to constituents in Rosyth. The recent decision by this Government to downgrade Defence Munitions Centre Crombie worried many people. I am keen to make sure that procurement decisions are made openly and fairly. This is an issue that I look forward to pressing Government Ministers on."
The Defence Select Committee met today to discuss the education of the children of servicemen and -women.
